The clip I want to discuss is when Hugo first plants the
seeds of doubt about Desi in O’s mind.
It is truly chilling to see the way he plays O. The way he will suggest something and then
back up…”never mind, Mike’s a good guy”, that gets Odin to pursue him for more
information. Also the way he plays upon
the race issue, insinuating that the dean would prefer a white boyfriend for
Desi as well as insinuating that white girls are different than black
girls. He creates a situation where Odin
is uncertain that he can trust what Desi says and how she acts.
